“The costs associated with getting our kids ready for school can quickly add up, especially for lower-income families,” said Chris Zimmer, Tarrant County Back to School Round Up Acting President Board of Directors. “That’s why Roundup is so important for Tarrant County. If we can allay the financial onus on families while at the same time ensuring our children are equipped with all necessary tools, then we’re setting them up for success. To the businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions that have joined forces with us, we thank for elevating our communities to a standard that our children deserve.”

Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price have encouraged everyone to support the effort, whether through volunteering, sponsoring, donating money or hosting a physical or online “Fill the Backpack” drive. Funded entirely by private donations and in-kind contributions, Roundup is a collaborative effort between Tarrant County and its 20 school districts, its municipalities, public health department, state agencies, nonprofits, corporate sponsors and volunteers.
